Bible Believers' Newsletter 257
"We focus on the PRESENT Truth -- what Jesus is doing NOW . . ."
ISSN 1442-8660
Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we commence another Year I thank you sincerely for your fellowship in the present Truth of God's unchanging Word through this Newsletter. Five is the number of grace, so as we move into our sixth year of publication we remember that God's grace to we Gentiles and all men is almost full. It might well be that Christ's Bride goes to the Wedding Supper of the Lamb in the Sky and tribulation judgments break out before another circuit of the Sun.
Back-issues of the Newsletter are available on the Church Website and I encourage you to read them all.
Earth is becoming a smaller, meaner, less tolerant place as Satan's totalitarian one world government destroys Adam's race in the East from the West, since his kings of the East vicariously rule the West. Their many pretexts to hasten the end-game build on the lies of these Eastern aliens who rule the West from the City of London and Wall Street. Typical cowards, they prey on the weakness of others as seen in the history of modern non-Semitic, anti-Semitic Israel.
It appears that Iraq has been chosen to be their first innocent victim with the tempting theft of their huge oil reserves. Iraq, like Palestine, has easily tolerated the presence of Christians and "Jews" for years and years (in fact, Hussein's foreign minister, Tariq Assiz, is a Christian), but not so in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. There are countless independent Christian churches (and synagogues) in secular Iraq, but it's a crime to be a Christian in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabiaso much so that US military authorities prevented public exercise of Christianity even among their own troops during the Gulf War.
The motivation for subjugating Muslim nations such as Iraq, Iran and Syria is not entirely geopolitical for Satan is the master of the 'hidden hand' that rules US, British, Australian and other apostate once Christian nations. The nations under threat are they that once subjugated Israel and been home to exiled blood Israelites for millennia. Satan is seeking to destroy these people before God reveals Himself to the elect Israelites after the same manner in which he sought once to destroy Israel's deliverer, Moses and Messiah, before they could learn their destiny.
As God used World Wars I and II to restore a nation of Israel into the Homeland where it became a state of mainly self-styled "Jews," He will use the presently clouded skies and thunders of aggression to gather blood Israelites to the Promised Land where an election will receive the Message of His prophets following the resurrection and translation of the (predominately) Gentile Bride of Messiah.
Sydney has seen in the New Year with a spectacular fireworks display on the harbor. A feature was a pyrotechnic flying dove with an olive branch in its beak, followed by the word 'PEACE' in huge letters. "For when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them".
The "Jewish" insider George Orwell, alias Eric Arthur Blair, revealed in his novel, "1984," which foretold socio-political conditions under the coming New World Order, "peace" will mean "war". So now we know the official program for 2003.
Thanks to those subscribers who have upheld the Newsletter and its editor in prayer, to our contributors and collaborators who have helped to make it an edifying resource meet for these troublous end-timesassisting us by the grace of God to relate current affairs to the present Truth of God's Word as revealed by His Prophet, William Branham.
We wish you a happy, healthy and holy New Year, and remind you to personally confirm all things in your own Bible. . . Your brother-in-Christ, Anthony Grigor-Scott

God's School of Prayer
George Muller (1805-1898) was a man of great faith. The first period of his life was lost in sin and taught him the bitterness and worthlessness of a disobedient life. He lived to become at once the oldest and most practical philanthropist of England, his adopted country. He robbed the cruel streets of thousands of victims, the gaols of thousands of felons, the workhouse of helpless waifs.
He was a man without friends, without influence, without money, without social position and with a dissipated and reckless past, he became, by integrity of conduct and nobility of life, honored and loved by thousands.
This servant of Jesus Christ housed, fed, clothed and educated thousands of orphans; he established adult classes, supported foreign missionary activity, preached, distributed free tracts and Bibles, and relied wholly on the Lord God to supply all needs according to the rich promises of His Word and prayer.
For the sake of those who might need further guidance as to the proper and acceptable manner of approach to God, George Muller made very plain the Scripture teaching upon this point.
Five grand conditions of prevailing prayer were ever before his mind:
1. Entire dependence upon the merits and mediation of the Lord Jesus Christ, as the only ground of any claim for blessing. John 14:13-14, "Whatsoever you ask in My Name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My Name, I will do it". John, 15:16, "You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in My Name, He may give it you".
2. Separation from all known sin. If we regard iniquity in our hearts, the Lord will not hear us, for it would be sanctioning sin (Psalm 66:18).
3. Faith in God's Word of promise as confirmed by His oath. Not to believe Him is to make Him both a liar and a perjurer. Hebrews 6:6, "If they shall fall away, to renew themselves again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame". Hebrews 7:13-20, ". . . not without an oath He was made priest".
4. Asking in accordance with His will. Our motives must be godly: we must not seek any gift of God to consume it upon our own lusts. I John 5:13, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the Name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal Life, and that you may believe on the Name of the Son of God". James 4:3, "You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts".
5. Importunity in supplication. There must be waiting on God and waiting for God, as the husbandman has long patience to wait for the harvest. James 5:7; "So be patient, brethren, unto the 'parousia' Coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain". (Also see Luke 18:1-8).
The importance of firmly fixing in mind principles like these cannot be overstated. The first lays the basis of all prayer, in our oneness with the Son of Man. The second states a condition of prayer, found in the abandonment of sin. The third reminds us of the need of honoring God by faith that He is, and is the Rewarder of the diligent seeker. The fourth reveals the sympathy with God that helps us to ask what is for our good and His glory. The last teaches us that, having laid hold of God in prayer, we are to keep hold until His arm is outstretched in blessing.
Where these conditions do not exist, for God to answer prayer would be both a dishonor to Himself and a damage to the suppliant. To encourage those who come to Him in their own name, or in a self-righteous, self-seeking, and disobedient spirit, would be to set a premium upon continuance in sin. To answer the requests of the unbelieving would be to disregard the double insult put upon His Word of promise and His oath of confirmation, by persistent doubt of His truthfulness and distrust of His faithfulness. Indeed not one condition of prevailing prayer exists which is not such in the very nature of things. These are not arbitrary limitations affixed to prayer by a desperate will; they are necessary alike to God's character and man's good.
All lessons learned in God's school of prayer made Mr. Muller's feelings and convictions about this matter more profound and subduing. He saw the vital relation of prayer to holiness, and perpetually sought to impress it upon both his hearers and readers; and, remembering that for the purpose of persuasion the most effective figure of speech is repetition, he hesitated at no frequency of restatement by which such truths might find root in the minds and hearts of others.
There has never been a saint, from Abel's day to our own, who has not been taught the same essential lessons. All prayer which has ever brought down blessing has prevailed by the same law of success -- the inward impulse of God's Holy Spirit. If, therefore, that Spirit's teachings be disregarded or disobeyed, or His inward movings be hindered, in just such measure will prayer become formal or be altogether abandoned. Sin, consciously indulged, or duty, knowingly neglected, makes supplication an offense to God.
Again, all prayer prevails only in the measure of our real, even if not conscious, unity with the Lord Jesus Christ as the ground of our approach, and in the degree of our dependence on Him as the medium of our access to God.
Yet again, all prayer prevails only as it is offered in faith; and the answer to such prayer can be recognized and received only on the plane of faith; that is, we must maintain the believing frame, expecting the blessing, and being ready to receive it in God's way and time and form, and not our own.
The faith that thus expects cannot be surprised at answers to prayer. When, in November, 1840, a sister gave ten pounds for the orphans, and at a time specially opportune, Mr. Muller records his triumphant joy in God as exceeding and defying all expression. Yet he was free from excitement and not in the least surprised, because by grace he had been trustfully waiting on God for deliverance. Help had been so long delayed that in one of the houses there was no bread, and in none of them any milk or any money to buy either. It was only a few minutes before the milkman's cart was due, that this money came.
However faithful and trustful in prayer, it behooves us likewise to be none the less watchful as well as prayerful (Dr. A.T. Pierson, George Muller of Bristol, p. 168-169). nl257.htm
